- Studio D'artisan contracts Kyoto Montsuki to produce the deepest natural black denim possible, combining century-old dyeing techniques with the brands denim prowess. The Kurozome series from Studio D'artisan is a collection of garments hand-dyed by Kyoto Montsuki. Founded in 1915, the Kyoto Montsuki company has spent generations pursuing the deepest, most consistent black possible with natural dyes. Woven on the brand's legendary G3 Toyoda shuttle loom, the Toyoda G3 weaves only 5 meters of fabric per hour, creating a unique and uneven roughness that cannot be replicated by any other machine. The denim has been given a one-wash rinse treatment to eliminate shrinkage, and comes fitted with an array of limited edition details.
